Cabcharge

Cabcharge is a taxi charge account system that provides customers with a convenient way to pay for taxis without using cash. The system is designed to give total control over taxi travel expenditure, accounting and records.

To make use of the Cabcharge facility, schools/departments can obtain a pack of Taxi eTickets through Procurement Services.

Taxi eTickets

Cabcharge have introduced Taxi eTickets to replace their current blue dockets. Taxi eTickets are essentially a single use docket in the shape and size of a credit card with a magnetically encoded strip. The introduction of this strip incorporates account details and provides for greater security features such as an expiry date, and most importantly, the ability to "Hot List" specific lost or stolen eTickets. Other advantages of the Taxi eTicket are:

  • Shortened transaction time
  • Accurate trip details transferred from GPS co-ordinates
  • Safer fare transaction with the likelihood of fraudulent activity practically eliminated, and most importantly,
  • Security, when the Taxi eTicket is swiped via the EFTPOS system in the taxi, all account details are masked, making duplication impossible. This will reduce fraud dramatically and your privacy is assured.

Using the Taxi eTicket

Using the Taxi eTicket is as easy as using any credit/charge card. At the end of the journey simply hand the driver your Taxi eTicket and follow the steps listed below:

  1. The driver will insert the Taxi eTicket into the EFTPOS terminal to read the magnetic strip data.

  2. The amount of the fare is entered via the key pad.
  3. The trip details, i.e. pick-up and set-down points are automatically captured using GPS technology. i.e. Monash University to Melbourne Airport. This information will automatically be printed on the receipt from the GPS co-ordinates.
  4. The details entered are transmitted to the host for verification and approval at which time the Taxi eTicket is then recorded as 'USED'.
  5. A receipt is printed for you to sign which will be retained by the driver together with the used Taxi eTicket.
  6. A second copy of the receipt will be printed for you to retain.
Now dates, times, trip details and fare values no longer have to be written on a docket.

To order a pack of Taxi eTickets download the Taxi eTicket Request Form and fax back to Procurement Services on 990 56353.

Cabcharge eTickets should be treated as if they were cash and kept under maximum security at all times. For the full conditions of use please go to Cabcharge Conditions of Use

Cabcharge Tracking and Reorder Form

As the new Taxi eTickets no longer have stubs for you to keep record of who has used the docket, Procurement Services has designed a form for your convenience. This form will allow you to record the user of the eTicket, date issued, date used, the amount of the fare and the trip location. It will also assist in reconciling against monthly statements and enable you to keep record of all usage. The form will be sent out to you with your Taxi eTickets upon request.

However, if you prefer, you can manage your records electronically by downloading the Cabcharge Tracking and Reorder Form . Please ensure to enable macros when opening the form. Upon completion of your eTickets send the Reorder Form to Procurement Services via internal mail or fax to 56353.

Cab Card

Frequent users of taxis have the option of obtaining a Cab Card. Cards represent a more secure method of charging for taxi trips than using individual eTickets. Cab cards can only be allocated to individuals and not to departments.
