The following information summarises the main
terms and conditions of the agreement between Thrifty and Monash
University
Vehicle Insurance
Comprehensive Insurance
is included in the rates, however, coverage is not provided for damage
incurred on unsealed roads, above the snow line, damage due to immersion,
overhead and undercarriage damage.
Although the
vehicle is covered by comprehensive insurance, there is a standard
damage excess of $500 and a single vehicle accident excess of $1650
, in the event of any damage involving just the hire vehicle. You
can reduce the single vehicle excess to $385 by paying $8.80 per
day. For commercial vehicles, a non-waiverable excess fee of $550
applies (this includes 8 seater and 12 seater vehicles).
In the Northern Territory,
4WD-vehicle excess is $5500 reducible to $990 by paying $22 per day.
Personal Accident Insurance
Personal Accident Insurance is not
included in the rate schedule but can be purchased at the counter
at the start of each rental. Such covers usually provide a fixed
sum in the event of Death or in the event of Permanent Total Disability
and may also be linked with cover for Medical Costs.

include 200 kms per day - excess 27.5 c (inc GST) per km

day from Sale, Bairnsdale & Traralgon offices - excess 27.5

Remote rates include
100 kms per day - excess 27.5c (inc GST) per km

Commercial
fleet
The following rates apply only to the
rentals from metropolitan areas.
- Rates
include 100 Km's Per day.
- For Country areas
- add $5.50 per day (inc GST).
- For Remote areas
- add $11.00 per day (inc GST).
- NT, Broome & Kununurra an
additional $22.00 per day (inc GST) applies to classes XFMR, TFMR
& FFMR.
- Buses include 200 Kms per
day in Metro locations & 100 Kms per day in Country.
Fuel Costs
Thrifty would
prefer that all vehicles be returned with a full tank of fuel. If
this is not practical then a refuelling service will be provided
by Thrifty and charged to the rental. Thrifty offers the ability
to prepay for fuel at discounted prices. This is available only at
selected locations and can only be arranged at the time the vehicle
is collected.
Stamp Duty
Stamp duty will
be charged at the appropriate state government levy.
Age Restrictions
All renters must
be aged between 18 and 75 inclusive. Thrifty recognises all current
non-provisional and non-probationary Australian drivers' licences
and current overseas licences. The required drivers licence must
be produced at the commencement of the rental. For Commercial vehicles
the driver(s) are required to be in possession of the appropriate
drivers' licence applicable to the vehicle being rented.
Thrifty Australia has reduced the underage surcharge from
$15 to $8 + GST for Monash University students aged between 18-25.
No underage surcharge will apply for staff renters using the business
account.
Pick Up/ Delivery Service
Deliveries and
pick-ups will be free from all city locations by appointment only.

The following charges will apply for delivery:
Delivery Only $15
Delivery and pick up $20
- Note: If the rental is three days or more there will be
no delivery fee from Thrifty Traralgon.
Any other special prerequisites with car rental

A rental
day is based on a 24 hour period from the time the vehicle is rented.
A minimum charge of one day applies. The following charges apply
on vehicles returned after 24 hours.
- 0-59
mins = Free
- 1-2 Hours = 1/3 daily rental
- 2-3 Hours = 2/3 daily rental
- 3 +
Hours = Extra day

A Registration recovery fee $4.00
per day will not apply to Monash University rentals.
Staff and students private rental proposal

Thrifty will extend the rates and terms offered in this
tender document to all staff and students of Monash University. As
an added benefit for using Thrifty we will reduce the under age excess
from $15 -$8 + GST for hirers aged from 18 -25 years of age. To qualify
for the Thrifty rates the individual must show their Monash University
identification.
Hirers aged between 18-25 may
a hire a 4 cylinder car only.
