Environmental Awareness

FiRM has successfully implemented many initiatives such as:

• Increased use of environmentally preferred paper forr the Division's printers and photocopiers.
• Significant reduction in the use of disposable plates, cups and cuttlery.
• A comprehensive recycling program including paper, cardboard, printer cartridges, bottles, cans, plastics and old IT equipment.
• A reduction in paper usage by encouraging double-sided printing and reuse of once used paper.
• Configuring the Division's computers to utilise power saving features.
• The Division's environmental assessment showed an overall performance result which bettered the University average in 8 out of 9 categories of measurement.
• Converting all of the Division's office lights to low energy T5 fluorescent tubes resulting in a 70% reduction in the energy requirement to light the floor area. (Click here   to see the consultant's report).
